QR Codes are back!

We're reintroducing the 'Scan to Unlock' QR Code Feature

The new Bleeper lock with the QR code

We've been listening closely to your feedback since we upgraded our locking system in February and one of the common requests was to reintroduce the QR Code unlocking feature - so that's exactly what we've done!

We've also retained the 15-Minute Prebooking feature so now you can get the best of both worlds:

1. Walk up to a Bleeper on the street and scan the QR Code to unlock it, or
2. Use the app to prebook a Bleeper to ensure the bike is waiting for you when you arrive.

Our operations team have already started applying the new QR codes to our bikes and over the next few weeks we expect to have the entire Bleeper fleet furnished with QR codes.

This graphic shows the display screen of a typical phone using the Bleeper app. A map of Dublin is shown on the screen with the location of Bleeper public rental bikes displayed on the map.

To Unlock a Bleeper by QR Code:

1. Upgrade to the latest version of the Bleeper App

2. Tap 'Scan to unlock' in the Bleeper app

How to troubleshoot when the lock doesn't open

Sometimes a parked bike can roll, resulting in a spoke becoming lodged against the locking bar. This may cause the locking bar to become jammed, preventing the lock from opening.

To resolve this issue, rotate the wheel slightly to release the spoke, then tap 'Start Trip' again and the lock should spring open.
