Bleeper Partners with Trinity for Transport Research Project

Bleeper will be one of the industry partners involved in the Transport Behaviour Change Trials (TRACT) project led by Trinity College Dublin Professor Brian Caulfield. The research will investigate ‘’the ability of mobility hubs and nudges to promote the switch to electric vehicles, with the goal of decarbonising the transport sector’’.

In Summer 2021, Bleeper partnered with Brian Caulfield to conduct research on the eCargobike Pilot Scheme in partnership with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. The Scheme allowed local businesses to trial the eCargobikes at a subsidised rate for 6 months. Bleeper has also begun an eCargobike Pilot Scheme in Dublin City Council and Fingal County Council, pioneering the transition to sustainable deliveries.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has now awarded Professor Caulfield €611,000 to conduct research on decarbonising transport. This reflects a growing shift in Government priorities towards sustainable development and active travel.

The 2021 Climate Action Plan aims to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions 51% by 2030, and plans to provide 500,000 daily public transport and active travel journeys. In this plan, the Government has recognised the important role that new technology such as electric bicycles (eBikes) and electric cargo bicycles (eCargobikes) will play in decarbonising transport in Ireland.

Bleeper are delighted to be working with Academics and City Councils to bring sustainable travel alternatives to Dublin. The eCargobike Pilot Scheme in Dublin City is still accepting applications. Dublin businesses looking to trial an eCargobike are encouraged to apply. For more information, follow this link: https://www.bleeperactive.com/bleeperbox
